Steamworks 3rd Eye Pale Ale – Beer Review

DSCN1289

For the fourth beer of June I went for 3rd Eye, a pale ale, brewed in Durango, Colorado. I am going to be completely honest and admit I was drawn to the can more than anything when I picked up this beer. I have only had a few things from Steamworks in the past so I wasn’t sure what to expect from this beer.

Visual: Gold to Copper coloring with a slight haze.

Aroma: Hop – citric based with a light floral and piney scent after the hop introduction.

Taste: The first sip is hoppy with what I would describe as a mild bitterness. The beer is dry hopped which gives off the citrus taste. The caramel malt serves to create some balance. It has a nice finish and is a good beer for hop fans and for those moving towards hoppier beers.

ABV: 6.4%

Overall Beer Rating:     7 out of 10 Spades

Swinging on my patio in the late afternoon sun sipping on this beer I couldn’t help but wonder if enlightenment was possible.
