Authors and Beers | Second Edition

The first half of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) ends tonight at midnight, wherever you might find yourself. This means each writer should be 25,000 words into their story. I am happy to announce I have just flown by 26,000.

Often, it’s the midway point of the month where writers find the most adversity along their journey.

The author selected for this edition is a master of telling epic stories, which can hopefully inspire you to finish your journey.

“Not all that wander are lost.”

– J.R.R Tolkien

The Beer:

Spangalang Brewery – Le Voyage

Description – A Belgian style Tripel aged in French red wine barrels with Brettanomyces

ABV:  7%

Their Match:

It is well known that J.R.R. Tolkien was a fan of beer. He could often be found sharing a pint and talking with others as he created the backstory for Middle Earth. Surely, it took a drink or several to come up with at least half of the characters in Lord of the Rings.

We could have gone the easy rout and picked a simple English Stout or Porter but where is the fun in that? Instead, we went with something the hobbits could enjoy, something a bit more potent with a special twist.

Besides Le Voyage, it’s just another way of saying journey, so wander into your next beer.
