Beers in a Snifter | Proper Glassware

For this month’s feature on proper glassware we are doing something a bit different. Instead of picking a particular beer style we are going to focus on a particular glass and the beer styles that are maximized by its use.

The Glass:

The Snifter.

Beer Style Recommendations:

Barley Wine

Imperial Stout

Quad

Wee Heavy

Tripel

Lambic

(this is not the full list but gives you examples of the most common styles)

The Reason:

The glass is meant to showcase bolder beers, so that their aroma can be expressed fully. The design of this glass also allows the drinker to swirl the drink to encourage the flavors and tastes forward. Often these are higher ABV beers, so the size of the glass allows the drinker to enjoy… without enjoying too much.
